Where do you get your parts?

This is probably the most frequent question I get asked. When I first started out making art from "junk" I would salvage everything I could find. I even knocked on a few doors where the people were doing one of their yearly cleanups and had tons of stuff on the curb for the garbage man. I got a lot of old bedrails and broken bicycles this way. At this point, I have so many wonderful people sending me pictures of various bits of metal with the line, "do you want this?" attached. Usually, the answer is yes. Everything from Engines to typewriters. Going along with my last blog post, what I currently have readily at hand often times determines what I will be making.

This is the inner workings of an old IBM typewriter (along with a bit of other miscellaneous stuff). Such cool parts in here. I am happy to say everyone of these parts will get used.

This is something I am messing around with, trying to get the weight right. I thought it would be cool to use the the type bars to put initials or whatever in the pendant.
